Keep your passion alive.
Passion is the great equaliser. It can make up for a lack of experience and knowledge. This is not to suggest that you not develop your knowledge or experience…only that until you do, your passion will be interpreted by others as a strong belief in yourself, your mission, and your purpose.
Passion is different from enthusiasm. The old, hackneyed cliché goes “Act enthusiastic and you will become enthusiastic.” Or “Fake it until you make it.” A strong suggestion unless the enthusiasm is an act which you use when things are going well. More important is how you behave when your life is falling apart? Are you just as enthusiastic about failure, having more problems than you deserve, disappointments, frustrations, and adversities?
Passion should not be an act. It is a way of believing, a way of being. It is woven into your cellular structure just as much as your DNA.
Passion…real passion for who you are, who you are becoming, where you are, and where you are going, what you believe in, stand for, and would die for…shouts to the world: “I’m here to stay, I’m here to make a difference, I’ll leave my mark in this world. It may take me my entire life, but I won’t give up until my purpose and destiny are realised.”
Who do you know who is passionate about something, or for that matter, anything? You can see it in their eyes, hear it in their voice and sense it in their behaviour.
Passion comes from gratitude
How are you doing? Are you in love with where you are, where you’re going, who you’re becoming, and what you’re contributing? Or, are you living like most of the population, with the attitude of, “Same Stuff, Different Day?” If you’ve lost, or are losing your passion for life, your career, or a relationship…do whatever is necessary to get it back.
Here are a few things to consider:
- Count your blessings.
- Accept the current reality of how your life is unfolding
- Set about to redirect your life from this point forward
- Recognise that dwelling in regret over yesterday won’t move you forward to your goals
- Manage your expectations
- Let go of old baggage
- Accept yourself just as you are
- Live with an attitude of gratitude
- Find a way to serve your fellow humanity
- Do what you love, not what you must
- Recognise that your life circumstances are not your life…they’re just events in it
- Find a coach or mentor who believes in you and your future, and can help you achieve your goals and dreams
