Connecting Through Integrity
Integrity, in its definite meaning, is the practice of being honest and showing a consistent and uncompromising adherence, to strong moral and ethical principles and values. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness of one’s actions
In your enlightened self-interest, and integrity, this is one of the best affirmations you could make: “I wish to give for everything I receive.” Many people take more than they give, with ease. For many to give, is to suffer a personal loss. This is not an integral way to live your life: by taking, you have the integral responsibility not to take advantage of others.
You hear of people boasting about a great deal, how they negotiated the price down to nothing, how they manipulated another person out of making a profit. If you possess good integrity, you will not behave in these ways. We all shop for the greatest value, at the best price. But this should not be at the expense of others. Your greatest deal should not have cheated someone out of making a profit.
The goal is success in the service of others, not at the expense of others. Ultimately, you should wish to be able to genuinely say; “I fought a good fight, I finished the job, and I kept the faith”, as the Apostle Paul once said.
To be integral is to adhere to the moral principles of life, to do things with honesty. In the fulness of time, integrity is the glue that holds relationships together.
